Sep 25, 2017 - The Casa in Matanzas was our first in Cuba. The Hosts helped us in every kind of questions or things to know. We are really grateful for the help. They have a Safe, a aircondition, a fan, a 220V socket and a brillant breakfast.

I recommend also the cuba libre and mojito they did.

Aug 22, 2017 - A nice casa near the center of Matanzas. The owner speaks English and he explained a lot about Matanzas and Cuba.

Mar 02, 2017 - Well located near Parque de la Libertad, city bus which can take you to Iglesia de Montserrat and Cuevas de Bellamar. Room on the second floor with balcony. Saturday night, the neighbourhood was quite noisy but not the other nights.

Apr 17, 2015 - We had a very nice stay. Central, quiet & values for money.

Apr 07, 2015 - Evilio and Isel are wonderful hosts ! they treat their guests with true cuban hospitality and kindness. Their casa became an extended home to us towards the end of our trip. they provided us with great travel tips, a delicious breakfast, and lots of complimentary coffee. we had booked our return stay in another Casa, after one night we ended up cancelling and staying with Isel and Evilio again. their warmth and care makes you feel very welcome !

Jan 25, 2015 - I booked 2 nights here but we only stayed 1 night as we decided to move closer to the beach in Varadero.

I booked this place beacuse of it says "private bathroom" on the description but it ended up being a shared one.

The apartment is on the 3rd floor (without elevator) and it is a smokers environment.

I had nice chats with Evelio and Isel and they know a lot of the cuban culture.

Recommended!

Dec 20, 2014 - A truly genuine experience and hosts.

Nov 23, 2014 - Casa Evelio-Isel was about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus station in Matanzas. I arrived late and was near the hostel when Evelio spotted me, an expected, confused Canadian backpacker. He called out to me and ushered me in and instantly made me feel welcome. Showed me thoroughly how the door system works to enter the building and how to operate all the amenities including a small room safe with changeable personal code. A decent inexpensive meal service was available provided you told Isel you were planning on eating at the hostel and worked out a time. I spent my time with two Danish travelers, I had my own room with two beds and they had one with two beds. This hostel isn't the typical multi-bed busy hostel, but felt much like home. A nice private balcony and a short walk away from a convenience mart to purchase rum, beer, snacks and cigarettes. Oh, and Bocholo, the silly friendly dog with an underbite when he smiled. Truly a lovely and personal place to stay. Thank-you Evelio y Isel!

Jan 21, 2014 - Not really nice host, since beginning chatting just about money which we need to pay for a room. Not nice atmosphere. An accommodation there is on the 3rd floor (it is difficult to get there with a big luggage, even for young people). A room is basic but ok, shared bathroom:( with hot water:) One nice thing: big and tasty breakfast:) but I would never go back there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place even for 1 night!!!
