Built in 1752, Micklegate House is said to be the most important Georgian residence south West of the River Ouse. The oak-beamed “Dungeons Bar” was once the kitchen, where servants prepared meals for the family and their guests, before carrying them up the servants’ staircase and through the “hidden” doorway into the panelled dining room. We have a variety of rooms and, ranging from doubles up to 18 bed dorms. Our private, candlelit basement bar is 400 years old and features beers from around the world,and really late closing at the weekends! Our 'Georgian Tea Rooms' are open Monday to Friday if you fancy a civilized cup of tea or a variety of hot & cold foods to keep you going.
